Despite its smaller size, the abrasive on the Shapton Seven stones is 1.4 times thicker than the standard version, with a 7mm thick layer compared to the 5mm abrasive thickness on the standard Glass Stones. The Shapton Seven 25 micron stone is equivalent to a 500 grit Japanese water stone, making it a medium grit stone that efficiently restores dull knives, tools, and razors.
